What can Sikaflex 221 be used for?
The Sikaflex 221 can be used on various surfaces, including wood, aluminium, steel, paint coatings, ceramics, and plastic and composites.
Featuring a wide range of adhesion, this adhesive sealant can be used for both simple bonding and internal sealing. Furthermore, it is commonly used to seal exposed and concealed joints and rivet seams in the industrial and transportation sectors.
How to apply Sikaflex 221?
Before applying the application, ensure that the surface has been properly prepared. Contaminants such as oil, dust, grease, and other materials must be removed from surfaces.
Sikaflex is available in cartridges or foil unipacs. For cartridges, pierce or cut the cartridge top and in the case of unipacs, cut below the closure clip. Insert either pack into a suitable professional manual, air or battery-operated application gun.
Finishing and tooling must be performed within the sealant’s tack-free time using soapy water. In the case of lubricants and other finishing agents, compatibility testing is required.
How do you store Sikaflex 221?
Ensure that the sealant is stored following the manufacturer's guidelines away from direct sunlight and extremes of temperature. For maximum shelf life, ensure the container is tightly sealed and kept in a dry, well-ventilated area. As a final precaution, ensure that all labels’ warnings are followed.
Is Sikaflex 221 paintable?
Sikaflex 221 allows overpainting once the skin has formed. The sealant should be fully cured before baking if baking is required.
